Thoughts on Theology

by Nicole Bauman

During our twice weekly theology sessions, the five of us are presented with the opportunity to explore together different ideas, different perspectives, different world views. For me, this year has been a year of focus, of intensity almost, in that my time to reflect on my faith and the world around me has been built into my everyday schedule - it has been enriching to have regular times when theology is simply what we do (not something that simply finds its way into the back of my mind only when I am not completely occupied with countless other things.)

Our sessions have been a chance to grow - to really look much deeper within myself, and to look much wider at the lives of those around me. By having this specific theology time this year I have been able to bring my faith and beliefs to a more central position in my mind - I am more conscientious of the manner that I act and react in day to day situations, but more importantly, I have had the opportunity to ask myself why I act and react in these certain ways, why the world is the way it is. In the end, this has all helped me to continue on the road to defining my personal identity and place in the world, and to discover with a more mature understanding what it is to interact and work and live with others who are on this path with me.
